Railroad Fitness

As I drove slowly past the train going down the railroad I had a thought, "That's a good picture of how to get fit!"

What do I mean?

At first glance, the train doesn't seem to be making much progress.  When I filmed the video, I was going about 35 mph and slowly passing the train.  It would take a long time to get anywhere at 35 mph....or would it?

Why do we use trains?  Because they can go straight to where they are going more or less.  No traffic lights, no stop signs, very little big turns or hills, just consistently moving forward.

And there it is, the picture of how to get fit.  Consistently moving forward.  No raising to the next stop sign or traffic light.  No forgetting the directions and taking a wrong turn.  Raising and stopping, wrong turns, traffic jams; these are the over zealous programs, the failed resolutions, the distractions and injuries the undue our attempts to get fit.

But if we viewed our fitness journey with a bit more patience, "Hey, 35 mph is OK" and just kept steadily moving in the same direction.  We may surprised at where we end up in a few months or a year.

Get on track to your fitness goals.
